Cooking Skills I’ve Learned at My Home Bistro

Published Updated

With a month of cooking with Big Daddy under my belt — literally! — I love looking back on things I’ve learned.

Several days in, I roasted garlic cloves. I asked Big Daddy how to do that, and he gave me an easy guide.

I went out on a limb and roasted a duck.

And most recently I learned to butterfly a pork loin.

I almost didn’t do it. It looked too confusing, and my schedule that day was complicated. But I asked Big Daddy for step by step directions, and he gave them to me.

End result, as we say here in Buffalo — an elegant entrée to be proud of. I loved our working title: Butterflied Pork Loin Roulade.

Plus, when Big Daddy tallied up what I would have spent for this in a restaurant, it turned out I had saved $150. I believe it.

Butterflied Pork Loin Roulade — what’s not to love?

And I butterflied it myself.

Thanks to My Home Bistro, I am out of my cocoon and spreading my wings!

What will I butterfly next?
